Dmitry Ovchinnikov Laboratory
University of Kansas, Physics
Welcome to the laboratory of Dmitry Ovchinnikov!
We are an experimental condensed matter physics group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Kansas. We use state-of-the-art nanofabrication techniques, low-temperature electrical transport measurements, scanning probe techniques, and advanced electron- and ion microscopy to create and understand novel low-dimensional condensed matter systems with programmable properties. The focus of our work is van der Waals quantum materials, where by means of heterostructure design, extreme doping techniques, disorder engineering, and defect engineering we aim to alter and design novel quantum states. We are also interested in engineering 3D quantum matter into lower dimensional devices, where their potential for tunable quantum mechanical effects can be greatly enhanced.
